I started Prooof because I kept noticing the same pattern: friends paying for forgotten subscriptions, missing flight compensation they were entitled to, never claiming the tax back from a job change. The rights existed. The money existed. But nothing connected them.
So I built a refund discovery engine. Prooof reads the receipts already sitting in your inbox, analyses every purchase and sorts it into one of three categories, then tells you exactly what you can claim and how. No spreadsheets. The three categories - and why they matter
- Goods - electronics, appliances, clothing, homeware. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 covers faulty goods for up to 6 years, far longer than most manufacturer warranties. Knowing the category tells Prooof which law to cite.
- Services - hairdressing, tradespeople, cleaning, gyms, restaurants, streaming. Different rules apply (services must be carried out with reasonable care and skill), so the claim email has to be written differently.
- Travel - flights, trains, hotels, package holidays, events. UK261/EU261, Delay Repay and the Package Travel Regulations all live here, with fixed compensation bands instead of refund-of-cost.
